Polycystic ovary syndrome: New therapeutic approaches

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is associated with insulin resistance and obesity with the risk of developing metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. A recent work published on Cureus 2017 highlights new therapeutic options, in particular attention is paid to the role of inositol isomers as a mediator of insulin action as well as some natural substances such as quercetin, vitamin D, resveratrol and berberine.

D-chiro-inositol reduces free and total testosterone levels and causes an increase in ovulation frequency, it also lowers blood pressure and increases insulin sensitivity with improved glucose metabolism.
